The Professional Association of Environmentalists of the World (PAEW) is the largest union of environmental professionals in Ukraine (more than 7,000 members: environmentalists, lawyers, top managers, business and community leaders, engineers, specialised researchers and practitioners of natural sciences) who work on environmental safety, green recovery in all areas, rational use of natural resources, sustainable development, integrated eco-transformation of sectors and industries, raising public awareness and professional environmental education.
In 2023 PAEW reached a significant milestone by expanding its scope to an international dimension. This evolution now encompasses not only Ukrainian experts but also involves a collaboration with international specialists, fostering a dynamic exchange of experiences and joint efforts in the pursuit of innovative solutions for environmental problems.
PAEW brings together cross-sectoral experts, representatives of businesses, communities, and state and local authorities for dialogue and search for joint solutions to problems. We have long recognised the importance of joining forces, working across disciplines, and applying an integrated approach to achieve common sustainability goals. For this reason, we create platforms for communication, research, development of solutions, and establishment of projects.
We issue a monthly magazine «Sustainability Leader’s Guide» for professional leaders of sustainable development and collaborate with scientists and educational institutions to improve training programmes for green change agents.
PAEW’s mission is building a real bridge between Ukrainian and international stakeholders and experts for green transformation and recovery of Ukraine.

- You are an environmental professional and this is your main field of work. People who love nature are great and important, but it is not a profession
- You do not have any blemishes on your business reputation
- You are not a citizen of russia or belarus and do not support aggression against Ukraine

Frequently asked questions about PAEW
Who we are and what we do?
- We scale up the experience of everyone working on the eco-transformation of all sectors of the economy and community life;
- We initiate the development of laws and other regulatory acts that will eliminate gaps in environmental legislation;
- We provide expertise on the most important environmental topics: eco-modernization of industry, air protection (emission treatment, system for monitoring, reporting and verification of greenhouse gas emissions, emission reduction), climate change adaptation, water protection, SEA and EIA, waste management (solid waste, industrial and radioactive waste), agroecology, the greening of communities, etc.
- We represent and protect the legitimate professional and other common interests of the Association members in central and local authorities, other state and non-governmental institutions and organizations.
- Provide methodological and informational assistance to the members of the Association.
- Increasing the level of knowledge of specialists (lectures, seminars, trainings, conferences, meetings, etc.) and raising environmental awareness of communities, etc.
Who finances our activities?
PAEW is an independent, non-governmental, non-political union that brings together individuals and legal entities based on their ideological and professional affiliation and interest in the greening of Ukrainian enterprises and communities.
PAEW’s activities are not funded by any political forces or international organizations. Association operates at the expense of annual fees and charitable contributions from its members.
Can we help a business entity avoid fines?
YES! Our members have a perfect knowledge of environmental legislation. We teach them to work not only in accordance with the law but also ahead of it. We prepare companies for inspections, teach them how to optimize all processes, how to properly draw up documents, how to turn problems into solutions, how to know their rights, and how to protect them!
What is the membership fee for joining?
